Job Description

The Senior Test Engineer is responsible for developing, validating, and supporting automated and manual test systems for high-volume production of FPGA-based electronic assemblies and finished products. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in LabVIEW development, hardware integration, and scalable production test methodologies. This role works closely with design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure robust test coverage, optimized cycle times, high yield, and continuous improvement of all factory test processes.
The Senior Test Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring test repeatability, minimizing downtime, and enabling efficient ramp-to-production for both new and existing products.

Job Duties

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test systems using NI LabVIEW, Test Stand, and XJTAG.
  • Create boundary scan test routines using XJTAG to detect soldering issues, shorts, opens, and other PCB-level defects.
  • Integrate NI and third-party instrumentation (PXI, DAQ, SMUs, DMMs, power supplies, oscilloscopes) into custom test setups.
  • Collaborate with hardware design, manufacturing, and quality teams to define test coverage, test limits, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Lead development and validation of test systems for New Product Introduction (NPI), including mechanical fixture design and functional testing.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot existing test stations and provide timely support to production during failures.
  • Analyze test data to drive yield improvements, efficiency gains, and product reliability.
  • Document test procedures, validation protocols, user guides, and software release notes.
  • Support component-level analysis, signal integrity evaluations, and root-cause failure investigations.
  • Assist contract manufacturers by troubleshooting test issues, validating processes, and ensuring smooth ramp-up of new products.
  • Analyze test results, statistical trends, and failure patterns to identify systematic issues.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in LabVIEW development in a manufacturing environment (Certified LabVIEW Developer is a plus).
  • Experience supporting high-reliability manufacturing operations; background in regulated industries (medical devices, aerospace, automotive) is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with XJTAG, including board bring-up and boundary scan test development.
  • Strong understanding of digital/analog circuitry and embedded systems.
  • Proficient in NI PXI, DAQ, GPIB, VISA, and instrument driver integration.
  • Familiarity with automated test equipment (ATE), test fixtures, and signal routing.
  • Working knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) and structured software development practices.
  • Understanding of Design-for-Test (DFT) principles and involvement in design reviews.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently while collaborating across teams.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Leadership and mentoring abilities.

Pay Range: $95,000.00-$128,000.00 a year, depending on experience plus bonus.
