Job Description

  • Completes acoustic design for transducer product lines.
  • Supports failure analysis and design improvements.
  • Evaluates acoustic devices, components, and assemblies for development and improvements of transducer products.
  • Fosters innovation by investigating emerging acoustic technologies and applying these into transducer products.

Job Duties

  • Provide acoustic expertise to engineering for both existing and new product developments.
  • Coordinate internal product studies and failure analysis necessary to evaluate and improve acoustical performance of products.
  • Support internal processes to specify select and qualify acoustical components (backings matching layers composites other).
  • Serve as the acoustics and test system technical expert for the other members of the engineering teams
  • Participate in design qualification testing.
  • Assist in determining test system project priorities, providing recommendations for project assignment to appropriate members of the team and following up with members of the team to ensure technical issues are resolved during projects

Job Requirements

 EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE      

B.S. in engineering or physics is required. M.S. or Ph.D. with a concentration in Acoustics or equivalent industrial experience is preferred.

5 years of industrial experience in transducer design and manufacturing.

The ability to design and optimize acoustic transducers. The ability to develop acoustic test methods. Excellent statistics and analytical skills. A self-starter highly motivated with good organizational and time management skills. Strong interpersonal communication skills. The ability to interface with customers and be effective at managing vendors and suppliers. Experience with developing materials and acoustic materials characterization is preferred. Experience with transducer mechanical design is preferred. Experience with transducer modeling including KLM or finite element analysis is preferred. Understanding of signal processing algorithms is a plus.
