Job Description
The Ceramic Process Technician III will be involved with all fabrication technologies required for transducer production. The duties will require programming, operation of the equipment critical to transducer ceramic production. (Dicing Saw, Backgrinder, Bonding and Ceramic Testing) Must be able to think on your feet and pay attention to the smallest of details. Advanced knowledgeable of the equipment and ability to perform non-standard TPM requirements.
Job Duties
- Adhere to policy and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Has substantial understanding of company policies and procedures. As a skilled specialist, complete tasks in resourceful and effective ways while adhering to production plan and schedules while producing high quality products to standards.
- Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions.
- Determine methods and procedures on new assignments where no standard processes have been established.
- Act as a champion of the company’s Lean and Continuous Improvement programs.
- Time and attendance are in accordance with company policies, procedures and work area schedule.
- Completes work orders on schedule to ensure a constant flow of product to ensure OTD’s.
- Advised management of adverse manufacturing and/or equipment conditions and issues that are affecting production and / or safety.
- Identify overdue or potentially overdue work orders and alert managers.
- Notify manager of all NCM (non-conforming material).
- Constantly review current manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvement. Recommend changes to eliminate waste and to promote cost reductions without sacrificing quality.
- Excellent quality.
- Computer literacy. Knowledge of the MRP system.
- Performs non-routine TPM on the machines
- Uses callipers, micrometres, height gauges and measuring microscope daily.
- Understanding of measurement in microns.
- Works closely with the PENG and DENG groups.
- Electric ceramic testing using an impedance analyzer.
- Poling of ceramic.
- Accurately input data into the machines.
- Cleaning and Inspection on pre and post plated parts.
- Hazard materials knowledge.
Evaluation of performance will be based on ability to:
- Fabricate PZTC and PZTC composites
- Precision dicing, grinding and polymer backfill of 1-3 composite ceramic. Creating high-quality product meeting documented specification.
- Advanced knowledge in operating dicing saws, backgrinder and other machinery.
- Advanced knowledge of piezo electric materials.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Meet and improve on established standard times for standard operations.
- Follow work order activities established via manufacturing reports.
- Accurately record labour time to all work order operations into the MRP system.
- Clean and maintain equipment. (TPM) Including tools and fixtures.
- Maintain work are to 6s standards.
- Must be highly organized, self-managed individual who works independently with minimum supervision and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Read and interpret drawings, diagrams, work orders, procedures and follows verbal directions.

Job Requirements
Education:
- High School Degree or Equivalent
- 3-4 years of experience
Experience:
- Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment
- Experience manufacturing PZTC and PZTC composites
Skills:
- Have good manual dexterity
- Computer skills and literacy a plus
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong verbal communication skills
