Position Summary
The Materials Science Sales Director will be responsible for driving sales growth, market penetration, and customer engagement for Evident Scientific’s suite of imaging and analytical solutions used in materials science. This individual will focus on developing and executing strategic plans to target research labs, universities, and industrial clients in sectors such as aerospace, automotive, metals, and semiconductors in the Global Markets of the United States, Canada, and LATAM/Mexico.
Job Duties
Key Responsibilities
• Own and manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing for the materials science product portfolio (e.g., digital microscopes, optical microscopes, etc.).
• Develop strategic sales plans to achieve regional or national revenue targets.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within research institutions, industrial R&D, QA/QC labs, and manufacturing environments.
• Collaborate with product management, applications engineering, and marketing to ensure customer needs are met with tailored solutions.
• Conduct product demonstrations, technical presentations, and customer training sessions.
• Maintain detailed records of sales activities and customer interactions in CRM (Salesforce preferred).
• Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and academic symposia to represent the Evident brand and build strong professional networks.
• Monitor competitive landscape and customer trends to inform go-to-market strategies.
• Provide accurate forecasting and reporting to senior sales leadership.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of technical sales experience, preferably in microscopy, analytical instrumentation, or scientific equipment.
• Strong knowledge of materials characterization methods (e.g., metallography, failure analysis, microstructure imaging).
• Proven ability to close complex, high-value deals with technical buyers.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently or in cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% as needed.
Preferred Experience
• Familiarity with Olympus/Evident imaging systems or similar product lines (e.g., Zeiss, Nikon, Thermo Fisher, Bruker) an or within Industrial Sales Companies in the following markets: Semiconductor, Automotive, Aerospace, and Medtech.
• Background in working with channel partners or distribution networks.
• Experience in B2B sales within regulated or ISO-certified environments.

Up to base of $195K, annual variable target of $105K, and car allowance.
