Job Description

The Technical Trainer will lead the development and presentation of highly technical content as it relates to laser confocal imaging, industrial, and core products that Evident Life Science supports. Strong emphasis will be placed on the updating of current Life Science technical training content and the development of new training content for all Imaging products and its successor product line. Working under the direction of the Sr. Manager of Technical Training, this person will assess training requirements collaboratively through needs analysis and field management, develop courses and training tools for all Technical Support, In-house Repair, Service Provider, Major Customer Accounts, and Field Service. Responsible for developing and implementing certification programs for all technical training that is developed. This person will be able to handle multiphoton systems or advanced imaging systems with no additional guidance, and will be responsible for mentoring peer Trainers as needed.
The Technical Trainer will work with senior training members to share technical skills and knowledge for field service team, and lead troubleshooting to support customers with professionalism.

 

Job Duties

 

*  Support technical training initiatives for North American Evident business units. Delivers training programs in alignment with training/licensing methodology to meet Evident customer expectations and field service management objectives.
 

*  Coordinate and lead classroom training programs as needed. Responsible for delivering quality training supported by written, practical and objective evaluations that help define student levels of autonomy. Constant development of classroom learning techniques to improve first round training and reduce field On the Job Training requirements. 

 

*  Responsible for continuous improvement of the training product including but not limited to course overview, structure, pacing, agenda, and goals.

 

*  Creative approach to the use of video as well as technical manual development, along with alternative methodologies to better communicate technical knowledge and augment existing modalities. 

 

*  Provide both hardware and software troubleshooting support via phone, email or remote technology to Field staff as required. 

 

*  As time allows, conducts field auditing to confirm technical skills are being applied, retained, and developed.

 

*  Conduct Field-service as needed up to 25% of time. Field visits should also be viewed as opportunities for the trainer to supplement existing training with "real-life" experience to add depth to future training courses. 

 

*  Responsible for maintaining current technical documentation for all course work supported including tools/jigs and spare parts. 

 

*  Participates in required training courses in or outside of countries provided by suppliers.

 

*  Maintains and protects all corporate assets including confidentiality/proprietary information. 

 

*  Setup and troubleshoot sales demo equipment when time allows.

 

*  Completes all other special projects and other related duties as assigned. Work flexible hours as needed. 

 


 

Job Requirements

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

*  Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (certified mechanical or electrical engineer) with minimum 3+ years of customer-facing field service experience for laser-based multi-photon systems or laser-based advanced imaging systems.  OR 

Advanced degree (MS, Ph.D., or postdoc) in the sciences and engineering with minimum 2 years hands-on experience in advanced imaging or multiphoton system in research setting.

*  Proficiency using Windows-based OS and system driver installation; skilled with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

 

*  Able to travel 25% of the time. A personal vehicle and valid driver's license are required for this position.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

*  Customer-facing field service experience supporting advanced optical and laser-based microscope systems will be a plus.

 

 

*  Strong presentation skills to train internal or external participants.

 

*  Ability to interact with field personnel, management, and customers with a high degree of professionalism.
